“St. Michael’s Church of England School, established upon Christian foundations, and living out the Christian faith, is committed to providing every child with an excellent education.”

We promote our Vision through the key words:

‘Create – Equip – Partner’

Safeguarding Statement

At St. Michael’s we take notice of and adhere to all the national and local policies and guidance in regard to Safeguarding Children and Young People.  Furthermore we also fully recognise our statutory responsibilities and duties to safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils at the school.  We believe that our school should provide a safe, caring, positive, and stimulating environment in which pupils can learn and which promotes the social, physical and emotional wellbeing of each individual pupil. Pupil voice plays a very important part in the development of the policies and procedures we have in place at St. Michael’s and so we regularly consult with the pupils to gain their perception on safeguarding topics.  Where we find any ‘gaps’ we will ensure that these are filled and the pupils develop a sound understanding of what it means to protect pupils both online and offline

Pupil Challenge – 1st of the Month

As part of our responsibility to safeguard those in our school community we also believe that it is important to educate the children and make them aware of how to keep safe as well as ensure that they know they are safe when in our care.  Each term we hold a special keeping safe assembly where we talk about specific safety points.  We also deliver a whole school focused PSHCE lesson where teachers talk about safety in and around our school and the community.  Finally, as part of the quality assurance procedures we have in place, the Senior Leadership carry out a month targeted ‘Safeguarding Challenge’ question to pupils to see if they are able to demonstrate feeling safe and have a developing understanding of the important procedures we have in place to keep them safe. Please see below the 1st of the Month Leadership Challenge Safeguarding Question to pupils: The previous full term is at the top.
