“St. Michael’s Church of England School, established upon Christian foundations, and living out the Christian faith, is committed to providing every child with an excellent education.”

We promote our Vision through the key words:

‘Create – Equip – Partner’

St. Michael’s is committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum for all our children and to enable them to develop into well-rounded citizens who are able to transfer skills learnt in English, Maths, RE and Foundation subjects across the whole curriculum.

Our school is involved in a teacher research group with the Wandsworth Maths Hub which teaches using the Maths Mastery approach. We use whole texts to create rich English lessons using our “Big Write” cycle as well as incorporating Phonics, Reading and Grammar activities into the start of our day. We use the SDBE schemes of work for RE; Jigsaw to teach PSHE; a rich, topic based curriculum called Cornerstones to teach History, Geography, Science, Art, DT and Computing.  We use the knowledge, skill and expertise of our subject specific teachers to develop an exciting and progressive curriculum for our MFL, PE and Music lessons. Our curriculum makes sure that all the children enjoy and access the whole of the National Curriculum in an engaging way, that stimulates high quality learning.

We want our children to know how to study and work effectively on their own, and also how to contribute as part of a group; to listen in lessons, but also to speak and present. We want them to be as confident in the new technologies of tablet, cloud and programming language as they are with book, paper and pen. They will know how to collaborate without copying, how to debate while still listening and will have learned that enthusiasm and curiosity are the best tools we have. We use our Growth Mindset characters of: Persistence, Innovation, Collaboration and Reflection to support these ideals and in-still the right attitude to learning across the whole school.

This section of our website gives an overview of our curriculum but please do contact us if you have any questions at all.

External Re-Validation of the Basic Skills

The school completed a Basic Skills Review in October 2019.  The Quality Mark Assessor visited the school, met with the Senior Leadership Team and toured the school as well as reviewing source evidence.  We are delighted to publish our review report below:
