"Working together for the good of all"
At St. Michael’s CE School, we are committed to creating a culture of care where every pupil, staff member, and family feels valued, supported, and able to thrive. We believe that mental health and wellbeing are fundamental to human flourishing and that every child has the right to be happy, safe, and supported. Inspired by this belief, we prioritise mental health as an essential part of school life, ensuring that our whole-school approach fosters wellbeing, resilience, and a supportive environment for all.
We recognise the challenges life presents and the need for additional emotional support at times. Our whole-school approach to mental health focuses on early intervention, awareness, and promoting positive wellbeing.
Promoting Emotional Wellbeing – We teach pupils about mental health, resilience, and self-care strategies through PSHE lessons, assemblies, and Wellbeing Weeks.
Support & Guidance – Pupils are encouraged to talk about their feelings and seek support when needed. We equip them with the knowledge to recognise when to ask for help and what support is available.
Physical Health & Mental Wellbeing – Pupils take part in two PE lessons per week, have access to a range of extra-curricular sports clubs, and engage in activities that promote an active and balanced lifestyle.

We are committed to staff mental health through the DfE Staff Wellbeing Charter, prioritising mental health, reducing workload, and fostering career progression.
