"Working together for the good of all"
At St. Michael’s CE School, we are committed to ensuring that every child flourishes. Guided by our vision to Love, Serve, Grow, we use Pupil Premium funding to support pupils who may face additional barriers, enabling them to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to schools in England to improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and help close the attainment gap between them and their peers.
Schools currently receive funding for pupils who:
Are eligible under the category of 'Free School Meals' (FSM)
Are looked after or previously looked after by the local authority
Have parents serving in the armed forces
At St. Michael’s, all pupils currently receive free school meals through national and London-wide schemes, including Universal Infant Free School Meals and the Mayor of London Free School Meals Scheme.
However, this is not the same as Pupil Premium funding.
If your child is eligible for Pupil Premium, the school receives additional funding to provide extra support, such as:
Additional teaching and small group support
Help with trips, clubs and enrichment opportunities
Pastoral and wellbeing support
Important:
If you do not register, the school will not receive this additional funding - even though your child already receives a free meal.
Registering makes a real difference to the support we can provide for your child.
Pupil Premium funding plays a vital role in supporting our pupils. We carefully plan and review how this funding is used to ensure it has the greatest possible impact.
Our approach focuses on:
High-quality teaching for all pupils
Targeted academic support
Wider strategies to support wellbeing, attendance and enrichment
Our current Pupil Premium strategy focuses on:
Improving outcomes in writing, particularly at Greater Depth
Ensuring consistently strong adaptive teaching in all classrooms
Supporting attendance, wellbeing and engagement for vulnerable pupils
Providing enrichment opportunities to ensure equal access for all pupils
Year 1 phonics outcomes increased to 95%
Key Stage 2 reading outcomes improved significantly
Strong overall attainment across the school, well above national averages
Increased participation in enrichment opportunities for disadvantaged pupils
For detailed information on our Pupil Premium spending, barriers to learning and impact, please see our full strategy documents:
Even though all pupils currently receive free school meals, families may still be eligible for additional Pupil Premium funding.
We strongly encourage all eligible families to register, as this allows us to provide further support and opportunities for your child.
Please contact the school office for support with applications – all information is treated confidentially.
