Wandsworth SCITT

St Michael's is proud to work with Wandsworth Primary Schools’ Consortium (WPSC), our local teacher training provider. 

Since 1996, WPSC has been training highly motivated graduates to teach 3-11 year olds in primary schools through the Wandsworth School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT).

The course provides trainees with the theoretical and practical experience needed to meet the standards for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the award of a PGCE with credits towards one third of a Master’s. Trainees can specialise as teachers of 3-7 or 5 -11 year olds.

Teach Wimbledon

St Michael’s is proud to be a partner school with Teach Wimbledon, an alliance of primary and secondary schools working together to train and develop the next generation of teachers.

Teach Wimbledon offers a school-led route into teaching, working in partnership with the University of Roehampton for Primary PGCE teacher training. Trainees spend the majority of their training year in school, learning alongside experienced teachers and mentors, while also benefiting from university-based training and study.

As a Teach Wimbledon partner school, St Michael’s supports the development of trainee teachers by providing high-quality school-based experience, mentoring and opportunities to learn from experienced practitioners. We value the contribution that trainee teachers make to our school community and see our involvement in Initial Teacher Training as an important part of our commitment to developing the teaching profession.

Successful completion of the programme leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a PGCE and 60 credits at Master’s level. St Michael’s is one of Teach Wimbledon’s Primary partner schools and offers placements for trainee teachers.
